Background
At the being of the Fall 2024 semester, I was brought onto a set (directed by Sabrina Layman and Nathan Glasser) starting as an Assistant camera but then becoming the Director of Photography. From there I directed my short film, which was an interesting experience. After that experience, I got a call from all four producers of "First Years" asking me to direct for the show, and they needed me to be prepared to direct two days from then. Uncertain, I took some time, but followed my gut and entered as a director. From there it has been one of the most rewarding roles.
Production
In production, I was one of four Directors, working every other weekend on set with their group. I was the Director of Group C. Before each shoot I would meet up with my crew (mainly including the Director of Photography, Assistant Camera, Assistant Directors and Script Supervisor) and review the plans for the weekend. By this time I and my D.P would have our shot list and plan set for shooting. We had a total of three shoot days, which started in the early morning and went into the evening. During shoots, we would work with all crew, like sound and lighting, along with producers. We would go from scene to scene, change locations, and figure out obstacles that would arise. One of the main obstacles I had to figure out was, that continuity wouldn't make sense in a scene, so we had to completely make a new shot list on the spot. My group got the honor to work on Episodes 1, 3, 4, and 5. And I offered my time to work on several different group shoots as a Director and Assistant Director. Production of this show was hard and required patience, problem-solving and so many more qualities that I think I and my crew showed throughout. I'm beyond honored to be a part of this production.
Thank you to our producers Sabrina Layman, Sofia Soto, Logan Thompson, and Sam Zaslow-Braverman for bringing this show to life. Thank you to our lead actors, Braedy Dilger, Sabrina Layman, and Tricky Tolento for putting your soul into every performance. And special thank you to my incredible create including Joe Polis, Maddy Dombrow, Robert Daniels, Giselle Martinez, and Hannah Lewinsky who all accepted me as their director and whom I value so much.
Post-Production
This show has now entered post-production, in which I will be one of our producers throughout the project!
